Bakers Dozen 2012

Quicksilver Presents the Work
of 13 Bay Area Artists

January 20—February 26, 2012

The Quicksilver Mine Co. presents Bakers Dozen 2012, the gallery’s annual exhibition featuring the work of 13 northern California artists. This year’s show opens on January 20th and will continue through February 26th.

Broadly themed around the creative use of surface and texture, Bakers Dozen 2012 features a broad range of work in a wide range of media.

Encaustic wax wall pieces by Sandi Miot; Michele Collier’s free-form paper-clay figurative sculpture; and bold palette knife paintings by Carol Andrews.

Paintings by Leta Davis, Joseph Mele, and William O’Keeffe, three artists who mix organic and inorganic materials into pigment, gluing, layering and scratching back through those layers.

Martin Webb’s polished concrete paintings, richly stained and incorporating found materials; and Christie Stewart’s assemblage panels made from antique radio vacuum tubes are included in the show.

Also on exhibit are Tiffany Schmierer’s sculptural ceramics; Fred Vedder’s abstract wall pieces made from plant fiber and organic materials; and Susan Field’s complex and intricate fiber art.

Rounding out this year’s Bakers Dozen exhibition are Ellen Blakeley’s fine glass mosaic sculptures, and painter Don Bishop’s reclaimed, repainted and inlayed surfboards.
