May 28—July 4, 2010
The Quicksilver Mine Co. will present a one-man exhibition—All the Pieces Matter—of recent mixed media collage by Sonoma County artist Kirk Hinshaw beginning May 28th.
Kirk Hinshaw has been creating art since he was a child of the 1940's in rural North Carolina. His collages, incorporating pages from antique books, old prints and photographs, sewing patterns, antique papers and small objects, have been exhibited in California and throughout the United States, including Gallery Route One in Point Reyes Station and a solo show at Hope & Grace in Yountville. His artwork is in private collections on both coasts and in Europe.
Hinshaw received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University as well as additional studies at the San Francisco Art Institute and the University of California. He is also a founding member of the Sonoma Collage Collective. For the past 17 years he has been a resident caretaker for a 235 acre ranch on Sonoma Mountain.
